Dear Members & Friends,

We celebrate World-wide Communion Sunday on October 2nd. World-wide Communion Sunday serves as a reminder to us once more of how God brings us together in Christ Jesus. No matter where we live in the United States or in the world, God brings us together in Christ Jesus. Whether on the face of the Earth or even in Heaven above, God brings his Company of Saints together in Christ Jesus.

Whether we recognize it or not God brings us all together in Christ Jesus. We do not have to all be in the same room, the same denomination, the same country or even the same realm. Because we believe and celebrate this sacrament of Holy Communion we are drawn together as one.

God has made us all different and has given each of us different gifts, talents, and financial blessings. We see that so clearly when we look at the Time and Talent sheets, and Spiritual Inventories of our members. We are extremely different. Our interests vary from one another in so many ways. We think differently about things and have even different goals in life. We have different opinions on things. We work together in different ways to find agreement and support as we carry out our calling here at Providence Lutheran Church.

In the midst of all our differences (God given differences) God is at work so that each of us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, might serve the same Lord. He calls us through His Word and Sacrament to work together so the work of the Gospel can be done in our congregation, our community, and the world. Jesus continues to pray that we might be one, not that we might be the same. Instead, each is to use his or her different abilities to be examples of faith active in love to help maintain the life and unity of our congregation.

May it be so among us as we pray: Gracious God, we give You thanks that You have fed us with this Heavenly food, the body and blood of Your Son, uniting us through Him in the fellowship of Your Spirit. We thank You for raising up among us faithful servants. We pray that each may continue to exemplify in word and deed the Gospel of your Son. Grant that we may serve You now in the Church on Earth and rejoice before You forever, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

His Richest Blessings to All,   Pastor King
